About

Sandra Ndebele is a bold vocalist, whose style, personality never disappoints, and her infectious and energetic performances have seen her command an impressive following from both the young and old all over the world. Sandra started singing in church where she was an active member of the youth choir. She was later incorporated into a lead role with Mpopoma High School drama club performing theatre, music and dance. This troupe was the founding grounds of Iyasa , which toured Zimbabwe, Austria and the Czech Republic. From 2003, she embarked on a solo career, which saw her releasing her 10-track debut solo album, “Tshaya Tshaya”, in February 2003.

The album was an instant success and the song, Mama Mama propelled her to dizzy heights as she competed on radio charts with Zimbabwe’s greats such as Oliver Mtukudzi and Chiwoniso Maraire within a short time. In the same year of the release, she was nominated in three categories at the inaugural Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA) which were held at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) in December 2003. Sandra’s arrival on the scene was emphatic to the extent of being nominated in the same category with Alick Macheso and the late Oliver Mtukudzi for the Best Live Act award at Zimbabwe Music Awards. She was also nominated in the Most Promising Artiste, Best Female and Best Urban Grooves (Female) Award categories.
